I opened a reseller account (baby croc) earlier this year and at first wondered if I was in over my head due to my lack of experience and minimum technical skills. What I found was a dedicated, friendly and very helpful group of people ready to help, even at 2am. I have nothing but praise for Hostgator. Please keep up the good work.

Great work by Josh Loe

Another happy HostGator customer, Matt.

Just a quick thanks to Josh Loe for the service on ticket number HAY-2924449. This was such a huge issue for one of my clients (on their own dedicated) that I started replying to the tickets for them.

Although it took some time to find the actual root of the problem, Josh stuck around and checked again even after it looked like the issue was gone (it wasn’t). He noticed it wasn’t fixed by himself (he didn’t just abandon the ticket after assuming the fix worked–as I’ve seen done before) and took the initiative to try something new.

Finally, he asked permission to restart the server, and waited until the requested time to restart it.

Altogether this was a difficult problem and it was handled extremely well. My client and I both appreciate it.

Thank you Host Gator for a phenomenal service.

The last hosting company I was with was just a dead waist of time, hopeless. But now that I’m with Host Gator, everything has really livened up and come to life.

Things got really bad with my old hosting, who was only interested in your money and nothing else.

So I emailed my friend Diego, ‘BIG Mike’ Michalis Kotzakolios mate, from ‘Inconsoft’, he recommended Host Gator because of their great support service.

He was extremely right. Host Gator is truly the way to go if you enjoy good support, and if you need a speedy response.

I’ve only been with Host Gator for 5 days now, so I’m just barely scratching the surface of Host Gator, but in that short time they have helped me more than the 3 years I was with my old hosting company.

The free website transfer that they offer is really cool, because they do all the dirty work of transferring your entire website, if you need a website transfer. And the good thing is, anything that is not right you tell them, they get onto it, and fix it in no time.

I’m very satisfied and would recommend Host Gator to anyone who needs excellent support, real live help, and a phenomenal service.

Five Months Plus Report

I ordered a dedicated server (Elite) on February 16, 2008, and it was set up within an hour or two. The next day, I used WHM / cPanel to import my accounts over from another dedicated server at another host (which, fortunately, also used WHM / cPanel). The transition was mostly painless and, after some configuration adjustments and DNS propagation, our visitors began to access the transferred sites that evening.

By the next day, few if any accessed the older server.

Over the next week or so, there were minor configuration issues I had to take up with support, mostly because of my individual “obessive” needs.

Since then, I’ve had occasion to contact support for other matters, such as installing XCache, an opcode cache system, to provide maximum performance for my vBulletin forums.

In nearly every case, response time was good, and support quality was excellent. I’ve had a couple of cases where they overlooked or misinterpreted a problem, but things were always set right after a second contact.

My total downtime has been minutes, owing to a pair of server restarts. Otherwise, things just work, which is what makes me happy.

And a special thanks to Brent Oxley for the personal contact and, by the way, for being a great guest on “The Tech Night Owl LIVE,” one of my weekly radio shows.

My Opinion of HostGator

I’ve dealt with many hosts in the past. I’ve been with HostGator for over three years. There have been a couple hiccups that were related to server load and sql usage, but overall, I am extremely happy with HostGator.

I am on the swamp croc plan and my main site is a vBulletin forum for our local nastalgic, old western town of Dodge City. You know, the “Get the hell out of Dodge!” saying?

If I was forced to recommend an area of improvement, I’d have to say communication within the organization. In the past, there have been times when you work on one issue with one tech and another tech does something that contradicts or conflicts with it. Or you talk with one that doesn’t know what has already been worked on or determined, like they can’t access the customer history notes. I’ve heard that they have improved on this.

For the most part though, they’ve been real good to me. Recently, we had installed a comprimized script and were hacked by a porn spammer. HostGator helped us to identify the problem and guided us to rectify it. Their security and support staff is top notch!!

As far as billing, I have automatic drafting setup through Paypal. This has worked well for me. I have never had a billing issue or even had to worry about making a payment.

Uptime has been very near 100%. You don’t see that with other hosts.

HostGator helped us move from our other host and did virtually all the work for us. We find the cpanel, fantastico scripts and other features of HostGator to be worthwhile, useful and easy to use.

I would definitely reccomend HostGator to anyone looking for a reliable, easy, cost effective host. You wont go wrong with them.
