1 October 2009Installing Wordpress on Hostgator

Ok, so now you have your awesome hostgator account and you want to install wordpress. Well keep your money in your pocket because you can totally do this on your own!

Ok lets get started; login to your cpanel.

Scroll down the page until you see “Fantastico De Luxe”.

install-wordpress-hostgator-1Now click on “Fantastico De Luxe”.

Now on the left you will see “Wordpress” under the blog heading.

You will now be presented with the following screen.

install-wordpress-hostgator-3You are going to want to click on “New Installation”.

Once you do, you will then see the following screen.

install-wordpress-hostgator-4Ok, now its time to set things up.

Enter the following information:

  1. Install on domain – select your domain name from the drop down list
  2. Install in directory – for example: blog, or you can leave this blank to install inthe main directory
  3. Administrator username – enter your desired username. for example: admin
  4. Password – enter desired password
  5. Admin nickname – for example: editor, or your actual name
  6. Admin e-mail – enter your email address
  7. Site name – enter the name of your blog (you can edit this later)
  8. Description -enter a short description of your blog (you can edit this later)

Once you have everything entered, click on “Install WordPress”

A new screen will appear letting you know that the system is creating the database for the blog.

Click on “Finish installation” to complete the install.

TaDa! You have just installed wordpress!
